Roenick actually got an offer from Calgary but he decided to go to Phoenix instead.

For only $1.2 million it's worth the risk. Even if he gets hurt early into the season. He seems more dedicated this season and apparently Barnett and company put him through some pretty tough workouts before agreeing to sign him.

If he is healthy he is worth 1.2 millions and if he gets hurt he doesn't count against the cap. Sounds good.

I guess Barnett pulled Roenick out of a wedding to personally see what Roenick looked like. After "inspecting" his body an enamoured Barnett gave Roenick a million dollar contract. He also stated in the paper this morning that he hopes to continue "the relationship" past this year.

Apparently Roenick then flew to L.A. where he was "inspected" by Wayne himself (and perhaps Janet). Wayne was very impressed and gave his approval.

I guess Roenick has been working out with the famous trainer that Chelios and Blake use J.R. Goodman. Twice a day intense workouts.

Roenick weighed 208 at the Barnett rendevous and hopes to get down to about 195.

IMO this could possibly be our worse move. I used to think highly of Roenick back when he used to played for us. But to be perfectly honest he is past his prime and is full of himself as a player. Id be happy if he pulled a "Brett Hull." The only positive thing I can see coming out of this is the fact that he is a veteran and can help out our young players. But I don't see anything good in his playing ability. He didn't do a thing last year except bi*ching about not being on team USA. If we could get any former player back, I would pick either Dallas Drake or Darcy Hordichuk.
