Coyotes Sign Nick Johnson
GLENDALE, ARIZONA – Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed right wing Nick Johnson to a one-year, two-way contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Johnson recorded career highs in goals (8), assists (18), points (26) and penalty minutes (45) in 77 games with the Wild last season. In 87 career NHL games with Minnesota and Pittsburgh, Johnson has produced 10-21-31 and 52 penalty minutes (PIM). The 26-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta has also registered 50-64-114 with a plus-46 rating in 169 career AHL games. In addition, he has recorded 8-7-15 in 26 career AHL postseason games. I'll give Nick credit, he busts his ass every shift. He had some decent games, but overall, isn't more than a grinder.
