Coyotes Recall Vandermeer; Reassign Yandle and Lisin

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled left wing Pete Vandermeer from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. Defenseman Keith Yandle and right wing Enver Lisin have been re-assigned to San Antonio.

Vandermeer, 32, has recorded 2-5-7 and a team-leading 300 penalty minutes (PIM) in 37 games for the Rampage this season. He also made his NHL debut for the Coyotes this season when he played in the team’s Feb. 10 game against Nashville.

Vandermeer has recorded 53-66-119 in 510 career AHL games with seven teams. The 6-foot, 209-pound forward registered 2-5-7 and 129 PIM in 26 games with Hershey last season. He led the AHL with 398 PIM while with Philadelphia in 2003-04. In 2000-01, Vandermeer posted 19-18-37 and 240 PIM in 62 games with Providence for his best offensive season in the AHL.

A native of Red Deer, Alberta, Vandermeer signed an NHL contract with the Coyotes on Feb. 8, 2008.

Yandle, 21, has recorded 5-7-12 and 14 PIM in 43 games with the Coyotes this season. He also collected 1-12-13 and 55 PIM in 26 games with San Antonio this season. At the time of his recall on Dec. 10, he ranked second among Rampage defensemen in points and assists.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Yandle has posted 5-9-14 and 22 PIM in 50 career NHL games with Phoenix. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Yandle was drafted by the Coyotes in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Lisin, 21, has recorded 4-1-5 and 6 PIM in 13 games with the Coyotes this season. He has also registered 16-17-33 and 20 PIM in 51 games with San Antonio this season.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Lisin has collected 5-2-7 and 22 PIM in 30 career NHL games with Phoenix. The Coyotes selected Lisin, a native of Moscow, Russia, in the second round (50th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Seen this coming. Things should get pretty damn nasty tonight with the Stars. Barch, Crombeen and Winchester may have something to say to Mr. Carcillo.... Good to have reinforcements.

Almost a given San Antonio gets in this year. Ads play the Rampage tonight. We'll see how much the send downs help 'em out. Hope Pete brings his A-game and helps Carcillo out.

It's late in the season - but still awesome news.

This Coyotes/Stars game should be good tonight. Vandermeer, Carcillo, and Boynton vs. Barch, Winchester, Crombeen, and Ott.

Hopefully Vandermeer sticks around though ... the 'Yotes need an enforcer, and now they don't have Josh Gratton anymore either.

Your right on that wes, now with the aquasition of Turris we are going to need some bigger than Carcillo IMO.

This is EXACTLY what should've happened the moment it was decided that Turris would be joining the club. Very glad to see they realized that after what happened last night that this was imperative.

I wouldn't worry about Barch. He still is concussed from his run in with Carcillo.

i like Yandle, but he committs a lot of turnovers.

Lisin is a keeper.

wait for the young group to come full swing.
