Coyotes Re-Sign Comrie Prior to Arbitration

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have re-signed center Mike Comrie to a one-year contract. Terms were agreed upon prior to an arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday.

Comrie, 26, registered 30 goals, 30 assists, and 60 points in 80 games with the Coyotes last season. He shared the team lead in goal scoring and matched his career-high for points. It was the second 30-goal campaign and second 60-point season in the young forward’s career. Comrie also posted 15 multiple-point games and 5 multiple-goal games in 2005-06. In the season’s 23 games after the Olympic Break, the Edmonton, Alberta native recorded 22 points including 11 goals.

"With the larger, more physical team that we intend to ice this year, players like Mike Comrie should thrive,” said Barnett. “We were pleased to settle Mike's contract without arbitration."

The Coyotes acquired Comrie from Philadelphia for Sean Burke, Branko Radivojevic and the rights to Ben Eager on Feb. 9, 2004. In 321 career NHL games, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound forward has registered 103 goals, 114 assists, and 217 goals with Edmonton, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.

Comrie was selected by Edmonton in the 3rd round (91st overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Good news although I don't like the fact it's only a one year deal. I wonder how much he got?

This is good news for the Coyotes. Now we need to get Nagy under contract for less then 5 mil a season. Hopefully the arbitrator can git r done.

The deal is worth 3 million dollars for one season.

The Coyotes need to step up with Nagy before he gets 6.5 million from an arbitrator
