Phoenix Coyotes General Manager
Don Maloney announced today that Coyotes defenseman
Chris Summers –a restricted free agent –has accepted his qualifying offer, agreeing to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers appeared in 21 games with the Coyotes in 2011-12, recording three assists. He also skated in 28 games with the
Portland Pirates (AHL), collecting two assists and 37 penalty minutes (PIM).
The 24-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Michigan has registered 2-11-13 in 109 career AHL games with the Pirates and the
San Antonio Rampage.
Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft.
