Coyotes Assign Turris to AHL, Recall Yonkman

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned center Kyle Turris to the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate.

In 46 games with the Coyotes this season, the 6-foot-1, 185 pound Turris recorded 9-9-18 and 6 penalty minutes.

The Coyotes also announced that the Club has recalled defenseman Nolan Yonkman from the Rampage.

In 12 games with the Coyotes this season, the 6-foot-6, 253 pound Yonkman has collected 0-1-1 points and 24 penalty minutes. In 34 games with San Antonio, the 29-year-old native of Punichy, Saskatchewan registered 0-3-3 and 64 penalty minutes.

Am I the only one who thinks this kid has been a bust ? He has the skillset and the potential to do good things but it seems that the Coyotes patience will only last so long with him.... or I could be wrong

Turris was rushed his rookie season, then spent the entire next season in the AHL, but hasn't rebounded this year.

I'm going out on a limb here but I can see Phoenix mabey packaging this guy up next year if he doesn't show anything more than he has. Mabey he needs a change in scenery at his young age to start new somewhere ... or he becomes a impact player next year and makes me eat my words lol

Turris doesn't even show flashes of amazement or promise on the ice, that's the biggest issue. It's one thing to come in too young, and be rushed while still showing promises of those talked about skills, but the skill is rarely on display with him. Maybe a change of scenery is needed, a fresh start, a new voice telling him what to do?

As far as Yonkman goes, A cement-foot guy that didn't impress in any aspect earlier when he came up... but at least it's something.

Actually Turris has made great strides this year, he has grown from a little boy to a semblence of a man.
But considering where he was drafted he has not measured up.
I believe he has been hurt and this is a conditioning stint.
he has played well enough to make an impact this year at times. He's still a kid and the Yotes are not giving up on him.

and JKIDD is right about Yonkman. He's got the speed of a beer league guy. He's big but not physical enough.

Nolan is alright in my book.

I like Yonkman but with his size he should play a heck of a lot tougher. Plays 'busy' but doesn't seem to accomplish much.
