Coyotes Assign McGrattan to San Antonio

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned right wing Brian McGrattan to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

McGrattan, 27, has appeared in three games with the Coyotes this season. In 146 career NHL games with the Coyotes and Ottawa Senators, McGrattan has recorded 2-8-10 and 299 penalty minutes (PIM).

From 2002-2005, McGrattan appeared in 196 games with Binghamton of the American Hockey League (AHL), recording 25-22-47 and 1,051 PIM. In 2004-05, the six-foot-four, 245-pound McGrattan broke the AHL single-season penalty minute record with 551 PIM.

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, McGrattan was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. The Coyotes acquired him from Ottawa in exchange for a fifth round choice in the 2009 Entry Draft on June 25, 2008.

How is it nuts? You didn't expect him to recover?

Good to see that he's back and over his drug abuse.

San Antonio will be incredibly tough now.

Hopefully McGrattan gets some games under his belt down there in the AHL and then returns to the NHL soon.

This is great news. "Gratts" has been missed.

Wes, He is back but what makes you think he is over his drug problem? He is in recovery and I pray that he is on the right path to getting back to the NHL. He is my favorite scrapper and I hope he gets back to the nhl this season.

Good to have him back. SA and Norfolk have such ridiculously tough roster it almost seems as if they're playing in the wrong decade.
