Coyotes Assign Gratton to San Antonio

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned left wing Josh Gratton to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).

Gratton, 25, has registered five penalty minutes (PIM) in one game with the Coyotes this season. The native of Brantford, Ontario was recalled by the Coyotes from San Antonio on Oct. 29. During his two-week conditioning assignment with the Rampage, which began on Oct. 15, Gratton registered 34 penalty minutes (PIM) in six games.

The 6-foot-2, 214-pound forward recorded 1-1-2 in 52 games last season. Gratton also led the Coyotes and ranked second in the NHL with 188 PIM in 2006-07.

The Coyotes acquired Gratton from Philadelphia along with two second round choices in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft for Denis Gauthier on Mar. 9, 2006. Gratton was originally signed as a free agent by Philadelphia on July 27, 2004.

In 67 career NHL games with Phoenix and Philadelphia, Gratton has recorded 2-1-3 and 237 PIM.

So much for Gretzky being happy with Gratton. I thought Gratton was doing a good job in Phoenix this season from the reports on here.

It happens on all teams. Downey continues to get endless praise from the GM, star players, and Coach. And he is a healthy scratch all the time in addition he has been waived twice already.

Sickening. Even though I'm a Coyotes fan I hope they get their ass handed to them over the next few games and hopefully someone takes a run at Mueller and knocks him into next week. This team is a ****ing joke.

Just as it was slowly starting to look like enforcers may be able to survive this season.....
Gratton's in the A
Boogey's getting 2min's a game
McGrattan's a press box regular
Belak comes and goes
Parker's not injured, but still scratched

Only one's that seem to be playing regularly are Orr, Brash, BGL and Godard.

Now you know how most Wings fans feel. Feel our pain. Habs fans are now welcome to join the club as well

When Brendan Bell was called up, someone had to go. It was either Josh Gratton or Daniel Winnik. Daniel Winnik has been playing great, while Josh has only played one game. It would be a no-brainer to me if I didn't know Gratton was an enforcer.

I don't know what has been going on in practice so no one knows why Josh only played one game. Weller has looked disinterested in fighting in the sharks game. I don't feel comfortable with him as our enforcer.

Parros skates a regular shift and has only been scratched once.

I understand what you are saying but I disagree. The Coyotes could've easily got rid of that waste of space Mathias Tjarnqvist. I like the way Winnik has played so far this season but I'd still keep Gratton over him. It isn't like Winnik has become a key player for the team. He's still a bottom six forward. I also like Weller but Gratton deserves a spot over him as well. Just a retarded decision no matter which way you look at it.

Orr has played all 18 games for the Rangers this season and is getting between 7-10 minutes a game. Tonight against NJ, he got 8:44 of ice.
