Coyotes Assign Gratton for Conditioning After Removing Him From IR

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have removed left wing Josh Gratton from injured reserve and assigned him to San Antonio of the American Hockey League (AHL) for conditioning purposes.

Gratton, 25, suffered a broken finger during the Coyotes’ first preseason game at Anaheim on Sept. 16 and has not yet played this regular season.

Gratton ranked 2nd in the NHL in penalty minutes (PIM) last season with 188. The 6-foot-2, 214-pound native of Brantford, Ontario also registered a goal and assist in 52 games with the Coyotes in 2006-07.

The Coyotes acquired Gratton from Philadelphia along with two 2nd round choices in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft for Denis Gauthier on Mar. 9, 2006. Gratton was originally signed as a free agent by Philadelphia on July 27, 2004.

In 66 career NHL games with the Coyotes and Philadelphia, Gratton has recorded 2-1-3 and 232 PIM.

Good news.
Hope to see him back as soon as he feels ready to drop the mitts and entertain the fans.

Even if only for a couple of games, the potential of a 1-2 punch of Josh Gratton and Peter Vandermeer in San Antonio, WOW.
