Cory Stillman Dealt to Carolina
RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired left wing Cory Stillman from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Ryan Carter and a fifth-round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
“This was a good opportunity for us to add some experience,” said Rutherford. “Cory adds more depth to our forward lines and we are familiar with what he is capable of doing offensively.” Stillman, 37, has seven goals and 16 assists (23 points) in 44 games this season with Florida. The Peterborough, Ont., native played for the Hurricanes from 2005 until 2008, totaling 47 goals and 102 assists (149 points) in 170 regular-season games. Stillman (6’0”, 193 lbs.) ranked second among Carolina skaters in scoring during the 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs, totaling 26 points (9g, 17a) in 25 games in helping the Hurricanes capture the Stanley Cup. Stillman played his 1,000th career NHL game on Feb. 16 against the Philadelphia Flyers, and has tallied 273 goals and 438 assists (711 points) in 1,004 regular-season games in 16 seasons with Calgary, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Ottawa and Florida. He has 51 points (19g, 32a) in 82 career NHL playoff games, capturing the Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2004 and Carolina in 2006. Last edited by Thrillhouse; 02-24-2011 at 06:05 PM. |

All indications are the Canes want to keep Jerome Samson in the lineup, and they are NOT done on the trade market. Could be bad news for Bodie, making him a healthy scratch, but he has played really well. Our 4th line has kept this team going through some games lately. |

if the canes scratch bodie they can kiss my ass. if anything we could use 3 more bodies. hes a big guy, physical, goes to the net and can skate really well for his size. he can't help what he gets to do with 3 minutes a night. i don't feel like hes a liability on the ice at all though.
this trade doesn't do much for me. we'll see how it goes, hopefully it works out. carters going to be out another month so the fact we traded someone thats not going to play and a 5th rounder for a guy that could help the team out a lot right now is fine. |

seeing as Carolina didn't substract too much to acquire someone that has experience and is still a decent player, i don't think it was a terrible trade for Carolina.

Seems like every year the Canes are trading for a former piece of their 2006 cup winning team - now its Stillman's turn for a second stint in Carolina....
