Colorado Claims Parros, LA Assigns LaBarbera and Tukonen

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have assigned goaltender Jason LaBarbera and right wing Lauri Tukonen to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

LaBarbera, 26, appeared in two preseason games with the Kings. The 6-2, 230-pound native of Burnaby, British Columbia, recorded a win (a 5-2 victory at San Jose on September 29), a goals-against-average of 1.33 and a save-percentage of .931 in his two games. Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the third-round (66th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, LaBarbera signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on August 2, 2005. He has a record of 12-11-2 and a goals-against-average of 3.11 in 34 career regular season NHL games with the Kings and the Rangers.

Tukonen, 20, appeared in one preseason game with the Kings. The 6-2, 200-pound native of Hyvinkaa, Finland, recorded one goal, one shot and zero penalty minutes in his one contest. Originally selected by the Kings in the first-round (11th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Tukonen has not appeared in a regular season NHL game.

In addition, right wing George Parros, who had one point (0-1=1), two shots and zero penalty minutes in two preseason games with the Kings, was claimed off waivers today by Colorado. Originally selected by the Kings in the eighth-round (222nd overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Parros has played in 55 career NHL games – all with the Kings – and has five points (2-3=5) and 138 penalty minutes.

Good to see him picked up so quickly. God knows the Avs desperately needed someone like this. Still surprised Marshall's out there though.
