They badly needed a guy like Armstrong and the only way to convince him to come to Toronto was to overpay. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I don't think that was the "only" way to convince him. Do some of you think Toronto is Siberia?

As for overpaying him, I agree it's too much money. But someone woulda paid him roughly that anyways. Look around, more than not, players (free agents) are usually overpaid . Boogaard? Gonchar? Plekanec?

Hey, you don't have to convince me. I love the signing.

I don't think Toronto is Siberia but there aren't alot of players jumping at the opportunity to play for a rebuilding team.

A lot of players don't know how to, or want to deal with the ridiculously overbearing fans and media here. Siberia is a better option for some.

Hey, I agree with you, however I bet theres still many players who'd love to play here if they could.

By no means am I a Leaf fan either, but I can't believe people are making a big deal outta Armstrongs contract. This is the norm now.

You're right but most of them are guys who are from Ontario and grew up cheering for the Leafs.

I love this pick up, sure they overpaid but I always liked what Armstrong brings to the game.

$3 million for 15 goals a year??i reckon when boogaard gets $1.6 million will only be a matter of time before hockey bankrupts itself with stupid over paying of players 20 years ago would never have made it to the nhl.

Because they picked up Armstrong strictly for his goal scoring abilities, and based his pay on that. I reckon you're a moron.

If groomed/coached properly, this guy could turn into kind of a poor man's Mike Peca. He certainly hits like Peca, but he has a long way to go in terms of becoming a reliable shutdown/checker. I like the signing.
