Chris Kelly Dealt to Boston for Second Round Pick

OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has acquired the Boston Bruins’ second-round draft pick in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft in exchange for forward Chris Kelly.

Kelly, 30, who is in his sixth full season in the NHL, has played all 463 games of his career with the Senators, registering 75 goals, 101 assists and 176 penalty minutes. He has recorded 12 goals, 11 assists and 27 penalty minutes while appearing in each of Ottawa’s 57 games to date this season.

A native of Toronto, Kelly was originally selected with Ottawa’s third-round pick, 94th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

The Ottawa Senators continue to clean house as they have traded forward Chris Kelly to Boston Bruins in exchange for a second round draft pick.

The 25-year old Kelly was held scoreless in just under 17 minutes of ice time in Tuesday night's Senators 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders. He has 12 goals and 11 assists in 57 games this season.

The Toronto native, who is in his sixth NHL season, had spent his entire career with the Senators.

Kelly has one more year remaining on a four-year deal worth $8.5 million that he signed prior to the 2008-09 season. He is scheduled to make $2 million next season, after which he will be an unrestricted free agent.

Kelly was originally a third-round pick of the Senators in the 1999 draft.

What a garbage trade. This is why you've never won a cup, Murray. Why don't you give Kuba another contract extension, you senile old ****.

I'd be shocked if this doesn't end up equating to Wheeler to Toronto for Kaberle.

something else has to be up. Boston already had too many fowards and their last minute scratching of Boychuk tonight was mind boggling. Why would they tell the media to stick around so they can announce trading for Chris F*king Kelly??

If it does equate to getting Kaberle...Chiarelli best not overpay for him.

I know Kaberle is a good puck moving D-man, I have never really been impressed by him when I have seen him play, then again he can only help our piss poor PP.

Why? Maybe they meant the real Chris from Ottawa.
