im actually glad to see clark go, to put it bluntly .. he sucks, he had a decent season or 2 a few years back, but thats it, he sucks, i woulda liked jurcina if he was a bit more physical, but hes not, just a big body with no grit..i still feel like they shoulda gotten better for these two...

Surprised it took this long for Ovechkin to become Captain, since I assume he'll finally get the C.

from a money standpoint, Caps make sense. but from a player perspective, Columbus wins this trade hands down

3 things i LOVE about this trade for the Caps.

1) You dump more money and now open yourself to gaining a top tier puck moving defensemen. Couple that with Green and wow that power play could be scary. I've read Kaberle is a guy the Caps are after.

2) You finally alow your top defensive prospect play and gurantee him a spot getting rid of a tool like Jurcina.

3) You finally give the "C" to someone who is the face of your franchise. I would assume he would get it.

Also I like this trade from the Jackets end. You get a heart and sole guy like Clark and some depth at D in Jurcina. To me this is more then just a player for player trade it goes a bit deeper then that. Pretty equal value in my eyes.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I think the Caps will struggle if Ovechkin was Captian. Knuble deserves it the most I would say because like you said they really lack in leadership.

Aside from Knuble and possibly Bradley, Clark was the only one on the team with heart, as evidenced by the C on his jersey.

This is a great trade, period.

Every team in the league would want Jason Chimera to play for them. You can't say the same for Chris Clark and Jurcina!

I think every team would like a Chris Clark on their team. I don't know where you are going with this.

He was there for heart and leadership, not to put pucks in the net. That is Ovie, Backstrom, Semin, Knuble's etc job. Chimera doesn't bring either one of those 3 to the table, maybe a bit of heart. And Jurcina may not've been a good hitter/tough d-man, but you got ziltch in return for him.

i could see clark with philly, they could use the leadership.. i could also see him with calgary or any team thats built around grittyness, but as we all know, the caps aint built like that ( a cryin fkin shame), so if the caps are built for all offence (obviously they are) is clarke of value to the team? in that sense i say no.. theyre a fast skating fast play making team, clark offers none of this.. IMHO i woulda threw in bradley and steckel for a top teir Dman and a heavy weight(they need both rather badly)they have a few in hershey more then able to fill those spots for the fowards they'd trade up(giroux, perreault and acouin)

i wont disagree on his heart, and i totally agree with getting zilch for jurcina, i think that was done to free a spot for alzner..IMO i think they coulda gotten alot better for those 2 players, im a fan of clarks i just dont see him fitting into the caps" our powerplay is our heavyweight" style.. the real test will be seeing how they play with chamira in the line up.. they obviously were playin good with clark an jurcina in the line up

Wow now all the Caps have for toughness is Matt Bradley.
They should do fine with him as their enforcer.

Unless John Erskine stops thinking he is Mike Green...
