Capitals Recall Tomas Kundratek

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Tomas Kundratek from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

The 6’2”, 195-pound defenseman currently leads Hershey in goals (13) and ranks third in points (26) while adding 13 assists. He has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) during his current five-game point streak and ranks third in goals among AHL defensemen. Kundratek has already set career highs in goals, assists (tied) and points despite playing in just 41 games so far this season, and was named to the AHL Eastern Conference All-Star squad for the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Classic.

In 173 career AHL games, the Prerov, Czech Republic, native has compiled 63 points (27 goals, 36 assists) with Hartford, Connecticut and Hershey. Kundratek has appeared in five NHL games, all with Washington in 2011-12.
