Capitals Re-Sign Peter LeBlanc to One-Year Contract

ARLINGTON, Va. The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Peter LeBlanc to a one-year, two-way contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

LeBlanc, 25, recorded 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) and 19 penalty minutes in 67 games with Hershey and Rockford last season in the American Hockey League (AHL). He finished the season ranked tied for eighth on Hershey in points and compiled 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 33 games with the Bears after being acquired from Chicago in exchange for Mathieu Beaudoin on Jan. 31, 2013. LeBlanc led Hershey in points during the playoffs, registering eight assists in five games.

The 511, 200-pound forward has collected 104 points (48 goals, 56 assists) and 45 penalty minutes in 196 career AHL games with Hershey and Rockford. The Hamilton, Ontario, native spent four seasons at the University of New Hampshire and was a team captain in 2009-10 when the Wildcats won the Hockey East regular-season championship. LeBlanc was originally drafted by Chicago in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
