WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals re-signed forward Jared Aulin (AW-lihn), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Aulin, 23, was selected 47th overall (second round) by Colorado in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He was later traded to Los Angeles and made his NHL debut with the Kings in 2002-03. The Capitals acquired Aulin from the Kings March 8, 2004, for Anson Carter.

The 6' 0", 192-pound native of Calgary recorded 11 goals, 28 assists (39 points) and 30 penalty minutes in 65 games last season with the Portland Pirates, then the Capitals AHL affiliate. In one NHL season Aulin has two goals and two assists (four points) in 17 games. He has 25 goals, 61 assists (86 points) and 55 penalty minutes in 119 games at the AHL level.

Prior to beginning his pro career in 2002-03, Aulin spent four seasons playing for the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. He played for Team Canada at the 2002 World Junior Championship and helped his country to a silver medal by leading the team in assists at the tournament.
