Capitals Re-Sign Donald Brashear for One Year

ARLINGTON, VA – The Washington Capitals have re-signed left wing Donald Brashear to a one-year contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Brashear, 36, was signed by Washington as a free agent on July 14, 2006. He has appeared in 50 games for the Capitals so far this season, recording six points (three goals, three assists) in his second year with the team. He leads the Caps with 72 penalty minutes.

A 6’3”, 239-pound native of Bedford, Ind., Brashear was signed by Montreal as a free agent on July 28, 1992. In 14 NHL seasons, he has played with four teams: Montreal, Vancouver, Philadelphia and Washington. Brashear has played in 896 career games, recording 82 goals and 116 assists for 198 points. He also has 2,393 career penalty minutes.

Nice too see a tough guy get resigned if just for a year. Damn Brashear is old, was there anyone else who was as good of fighter as he is at that age?

well, at least he stays in the NHL... i remember him back with the Habs and he was nowhere near as active as he once was... Good job Caps.

Hmmmm...good question. I cant think of any fighter from the past still fighting as great as Brashear has been at his age. He really knows how to keep himself in good shape. I think its also probably because he's one the most smartest figthers out there right now.
