Capitals Obtain Chris Clark From Calgary

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals today obtained right wing Chris Clark from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Clark, 29, was selected 77th overall (third round) by Calgary in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. The 6' 0", 200-pound native of South Windsor, Conn., recorded 10 goals, 15 assists (25 points) and 106 penalty minutes with the Western Conference champion Calgary Flames in 2003-04. He added three goals, three assists (six points) and 30 PIM in 26 postseason games as the Flames came within a game of winning their first Stanley Cup title since 1989.

In five NHL seasons Clark has totaled 35 goals, 36 assists (71 points) and 363 PIM in 278 games. Nine of his NHL goals have come on the power play and eight have been game-winners. He has totaled 10 goals in each of his last three seasons with Calgary, and his 25 points in 2003-04 was a career high. Clark played in 163 of Calgary’s 164 games during the last two seasons, missing one game in 2002-03 for the birth of his first child.

Clark played four seasons of NCAA hockey at Clarkson University, where he was named to the ECAC’s second all-star team as a senior in 1997-98.

Intrical part of Calgary's Stanley Cup run. Good pick up by the Caps. The guy will throw down if he has too.

Good guy for the Caps to have. Would have liked to see him stay in Calgary tho.

Saw this coming a mile away. No room for Clark left with all the kids coming up.

Good pick up for the Caps. The Flames are just so loaded on toughness anyways so I can understand letting him go.
