Capitals' John Erskine Suspended Three Games for Elbowing
NEW YORK -- Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine has been suspended for three games for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds in NHL Game No. 101 in Washington on Friday, February 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Erskine will forfeit $24,324.33. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. The incident occurred at 18:09 of the first period. |

This was a fair suspension, however the refs didn't call a single penalty on the play. Refs go from overcalling something (see Backes hit on Huskins) to missing a blatant elbow. I sound like a broken record but refs have to be held responsible for their call and no calls. Also, how they treat players (see Gerbe get manhandled).
