Scott Hannan isn't expected to do all that much except clear out his zone, which basically almost none of the other d-men in Washington do right now. Colorado gets another young body to hold out while the injuries heal up. Decent trade IMO.

thats what caps need to win a cup, solid D which hannan brings. flash was just another sof euro on a soft team and he was basically a non factor this year. i also expect he wouldnt have been cheap come contract extension time

"It's tough because you think you've got [Jeff] Schultz and [Mike] Green together and [Karl] Alzner and [John] Carlson and it would be a natural fit for Poti and Hannan, but Erskine's played very well," Boudreau said. "It will probably be Poti and Hannan when all is set and good, but we don't know right now because every game somebody seems to be getting hurt."
I interpret that as Erskine will end up sitting because of this deal once Poti gets healthy. Unfukingbelievable. He's having a career year and has been one of our top performing Dmen while Alzner continues to be a disappointment. Erskine sitting because of Hannan is really gonna make me hate this trade.

Capitals Acquire Scott Hannan

If they could only pawn off Foote on some suckers as well.

I like Boudreau less and less each season.
