Actually, Detroit reportedly offered him $2.5mil and Hudler still isnt happy and is likely to file for arbitration. Looks unlikely Hudler will return as we've already re-signed Leino which will probably eat up nearly $1mil of cap.

Because he doesn't have memorable hits he isn't physical? He isn't a defenseman. He doesn't have the chance to get open ice hits like Krownwall, Stuart, Phaneuf, Stevens, etc.

Chris Neil and Dan Carcillo have been the top hitters the last 2 years if my memory serves me right...how many hits do you remember from either? How about Helm leading the playoffs in hits? Yet all people remember are Stuart/Kronwall hits on Havlet.

Your seriously not worth my time.

It depends on how much the arbitrator decides but I doubt it will be 3 million or above. But I'm really hoping he gets the 3.5 he is hoping for and the Wings trade him. I think we will still see Hudler in a Wings uniform next season until we see how much he is worth.

If you want to think Samuelsson is physcial and hits, thats fine by me.

If you want to look at the hits stats, which most consider inflated and therefore meaningless, thats fine by me too. IF You want to look at hits in this new soft nhl as proof, I'll disagree.

The guy is soft, he doesnt throw the body and cannot hit the net. Sorry to give you a reality you would like to ignore for some reason.

Redtown is right. Sammy is the embodiment of what is wrong in Detroit.

Hopefully Huds stays mad and signs somewhere else. Maybe Holland would sign a tough guy then.

I like optimism. Watch Holland do something like re-sign Jason Williams now.

I still think they should steal Shanahan from NJ. He would come cheap at under $1M, would solidify the 3rd line , (we all know how Holland hates having too much youth without experience to help them along), and he would be a boost for the PP. Not to mention the toughness upgrade.
And being a fan favorite, he would put butts in the JLA.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom
Cleary - Filppula - Franzen
Leino - Helm - Shanahan
Abdelkader - Draper - Maltby

Shanahan barely resembles the tough power forward he once was.

Why don't we just sign Downey for real cheap and actually play him?

But still would be an upgrade from Samuelsson nonetheless. And with the cap situation Detroit is faced with, it's a win/win.

True, but I doubt Shanahan would want to return here unless he was really desperate. And we have enough aging waste on our roster to risk adding another one.

As much as I love Downey, he's done. He went out with a bang with his fight with Janssen and spectacular cheapshot in the AHL playoffs, but thats it for him now.

Maybe the Nucks will have an all Swedish line. Sedin-Sedin-Samuelsson or you could call it the S line.
