Sundin could be a huge catalyst or a huge bust in Vancouver. Time will tell.
Exactly. Coming into the year there were a lot of questions regarding the Canucks lineup, and those same questions exist today. Sundin will help - a lot. But he's not all the answers we're looking for - there's still several holes in the roster that need addressing, and players that have to elevate their play when it matters. But the addition of Sundin makes the Canucks a much better team than they were the day before.

But make no mistake, its Luongo and his health that remains the key to everything in Vancouver. If we don't have that stellar goaltending Lou can bring to the rink every night, then nothing Sundin does will even matter in the end.

ron mclean finally asked the question i've been wondering about:

does the fact that vancouver is hosting the 2010 olympics make it more likely that mats would come back again next year?

mats brushed aside the question, saying he felt after winning gold in torino 2006 that his days with the swedish national team were over.

but he did leave that door open a bit, saying he'd have to see how he felt after the season before knowing if he'd come back for another year

reading between the lines, i think it all depends on the play-off results

How are you so smart? You are absolutely right! I am so upset the Flyers didn't clear house to make room for a $20 million over the hill player that will net his 30 goals, half ass every shift, collect his check, and won't going to bring my team any closer to a championship! Damn dude, I was hoping to get a good night's sleep, but now that's shot to hell seeing how I'm going to be up all night wondering what could have been. Can't wait to see this out of shape puss and his misguided employers get steamrolled by the Flyers next week! Fare thee well

Say what you want about Mats, but he's never been one to halfass it. More than you can say about 80% of the Euro-stars in the league.

PS: He's not making $20 Million, he's making $5million. Leaving us with plenty of room to pick up another impact player at the deadline.

PPS: I doubt Sundin will be playing by the time we play you guys next week, but either way, if you care to put your money where your mouth is, how about a little friendly wager? See how smart you really are...

you can say what you want about Sundin but one thing he never is, is half assed. the dude carried us for 13 years and he'll do the same in Van.

Half assed? Do you watch hockey or just Philly games only?

Mats has played in some 1300ish games and has just as many points. Hes a +70 over his career, statistics that could rival Mario and Jagr's.

Theres just 1 person on the Flyers right now ( Gagne ) that has brought to the table what Mats has for his team ( +/- rating. Adding 10 years of play will really show where Gagne truly is ).

Your right though, Mats won't bring your team any closer to anything. He chose a team with more intelligent fans.

Money talks, bull**** walks. He doesn't care about winning the cup. Can't argue that he is/was a great hockey player though.
