Canucks Sign Mason Raymond
Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed forward Mason Raymond to a two-year deal.
Raymond, 24, registered 53 points (25-28-53) in 82 games with Vancouver this season. He tied for second on the team in power play goals (8) and established career highs in all offensive categories. In 203 NHL contests with Vancouver, he has recorded 97 points (45-52-97) and 74 penalty minutes. The Cochrane, AB native was awarded the Canucks 2010 Fred J. Hume Award (Unsung Hero) as voted by the Canucks Booster Club and appeared in three games, recording one assist for Team Canada at the 2010 World Hockey Championships. Great deal for both Gillis & Raymond. He definitely caved as he could have made another million but he probably knows that the Nucks could walk if he was awarded too much in arbitration.

I read they agreed to the deal within minutes of the scheduled arbitration hearing.
Good stuff. I thought for sure the Canucks would have to pay over 3 million a year for him had it gone to an arbitrator, so to me this is good news - and if Raymond turns into a bust or flames out, they can part ways after a couple seasons.
