The 'Nucks were in a horrible position with him.

He clearly has nothing to prove in Junior, but with the injury, he was nowhere near the player he was in junior last yr. He's not a fast skater at the best of times, but he was the absolute slowest guy in the ice in every game he played in. By a country mile.

Disappointing, but really, I still don't see another option here. I am, however, a little surprised the Canucks didn't give him his 9 games before sending him back - but I think between the Canucks salary cap, Shirokov's pre-season performance, and Hodgson's poor play all combined to send him back to Brampton. He never really got on track after hurting his back.

But really, with the Canucks depth up front right now, there's no need to rush him into the lineup and only use him sparingly. Its obviously better off this way.

Anyhow - I'm sure no one's more disappointed than Cody himself. But if he spends the year getting stronger, faster, and taking care of that back while getting another shot at a gold medal and Memorial Cup, then he and the Canucks will be all the better for it. Seeya next year Cody!
