Canucks Recall Jordan Schroeder; Assign Jim Vandermeer to Chicago (AHL)

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have recalled centre Jordan Schroeder from the Chicago Wolves. Defenceman Jim Vandermeer has been re-assigned to Chicago.

Schroeder, 22, has recorded 19 points (9-10-19) in 30 games with the Wolves this season. In 178 AHL games, he has compiled 100 points (44-56-100) and 36 penalty minutes.

Vandermeer, 32, has played in 461 NHL games, recording 105 points (25-80-105) and 664 penalty minutes. The 6’1”, 208 lbs. defenceman split the 2011.12 season with the Edmonton Oilers (2-12-14 in 62 games played) and San Jose Sharks (1-3-4 in 25 games played). In 21 playoff contests, he has registered two assists and 17 penalty minutes.

Might buy my first Wolves ticket in 2 years. Jimmy is my favorite player of recent era. Shame he can't fit into a weak Canucks lineup.

Booo. we didnt even see jim vandermeer in a single game yet. calgary is not a threat i suppose.
jordan played well during camp. centering mason raymond and jannik hansen wonder if he centers them when he comes up. they had some good chemisrty.

I hate the Canucks as much as the next guy, but is it possible that Vandermeer is simply being sent to Chicago for a conditioning stint? Maybe I'm giving Vancouver too much credit...
