Has anyone been called up and sent down as much as McIver this season? The guy is up and down like a yo-yo.
Are the Canucks that close to the salary cap that they have to keep bouncing him up and down?

The Canuck's d has been decimated by injuries this season.
I think he is getting sent down/called up repeatedly for a few reasons. He's a young guy that needs to play. He's not going to get a lot of ice in Vancouver (if he dresses at all). There is also the issue of the roster size. If the Canuck's can have a Salo, Bieksa, Mitchell etc... in the line up at 60%, they'd rather do that than play McIvar. Due to so many guys being banged up, often times it is a game time decision if an established starter can play. Anyways, it is great for McIvar. He was a real long shot to ever play an NHL game. He's gotten a few games in under his belt, and I am sure he appreciates the HUGE pay raise he gets when he's called up. He's getting paid the NHL minimum (which is way more than his AHL salary) whenever he is called up, dressed or not dressed. |
