Canucks Re-Sign Forward Matt Cooke
Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed forward Matt Cooke to a multi-year contract.
“We are excited to have agreed to terms with Matt on this new contract,” said Dave Nonis. “Matt has developed into a solid two way player with our hockey club and we look forward to his continued growth as a player for our club.” Cooke, 27, appeared in 53 games for the Vancouver Canucks during the 2003-04 NHL season, tallying 23 points (11-12-23) and 73 minutes in penalties. In 2002-03, Cooke enjoyed a career season recording 15 goals, 27 assists and 42 points. He also played in all 14 of Vancouver’s playoff games that season recording three points and 12 penalty minutes. In 379 career games, all with the Canucks, Cooke has scored 58 goals while adding 81 assists (58-81-139) and 426 penalty minutes. In 31 career NHL Playoff games he has recorded 12 points (8-4-12) and 28 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 205 pound native of Belleville, Ontario, was Vancouver’s 7th choice, 144th overall, in the 1997 Entry Draft. .

Argghhh! We totally overpaid. Oh well. I just hope nobody has to be moved due to his greed. Unless it's him. I have a feeling ol' Cooker won't be the fan favourite this year.

i like him and im glad that hes back on the team, i jsut wish he didnt ask for so much money, nonis shoulda traded his rights and got a cheaper player. he does his job, and he does it mighty well...eh jkidd
