I feel Pinizotto will do a lot of heavy lifting for Vancouver and Volpatti a secondary enforcer with Weise bringing up the rear.
I don't understand why Canucks fans are so happy abou the Pinizzotto re-signing and think that he'll be an answer to the Canucks toughness issues. I will admit to not seeing him play live too much, but he's not very big and if he's going to be a fourth line guy in the NHL and play a physical role at his size, you can expect him to spend a fair amount of time on the injury list and last year was a good example of that. He bounced off Douglas Murray last year like he was a little kid. Murray has put many guys on their asses but Pinizzotto ran at him and he ended up being out for the year because of it. He might be able to get away with running guys in the AHL but it's not likely to happen in the NHL.

Plus, because he's had high penalty totals, the fans seem to think that he's an enforcer but everything I've seen, heard and read about him on this site and elsewhere, he's more of a mouthy agitator, get under your skin kind of guy who will drop the gloves because he has too because of the way that he plays, rather than being any sort of enforcer.

As for Weise, great job Gillis. Re-sign this speed bag? You might as well go out and sign Kostopolous, so that we can have him, Weise and Lapierre as our fourth line to get into 30/40 fights a year and win a grand total of 0 of them.

Come on people, I still prefer Dale Weise who sometimes is willing to drop the gloves and play with his shoulders than a useless Europuss like Andreas Nodl.

The problem isn't about Dale Weise being signed, it's more about Vancouver not signing a heavyweight to a one-way contract.

After hearing this, I'll have to change my "Toughest Team Prediction".

I won't put them last, they do have Bieksa and Kassian.

2nd last wouldn't be a stretch tho.

Cuz Joslin isn't a fighter.

I wish Grossman would fight more if it was based on size.

Spot on. Pinizzotto is game but we're talking about a kid that played at RIT not on Moose Jaw. He starts a lot of crap and to his credit backs it up, but shouldn't ever be looked at as a go-to guy for enforcing duties. Maybe the best comparison would be Zac Rinaldo?

1-23-11 Zac Rinaldo vs. Steve Pinizzotto -...
