Canucks Re-Sign Bryan Allen and Jason King
Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed defenceman Bryan Allen and forward Jason King.
In 2004-05, Allen, 28, played for Voskresensk in Russia, recording three points (0-3-3) and 34 penalty minutes in 19 games. In 2003-04, Allen played in 74 games, racking up 94 minutes in penalties and seven points (2-5-7). In 139 career games over five seasons, Allen has recorded 15 points (7-8-15) and 173 penalty minutes. He has also played in seven playoff games with the Canucks. Allen, 6-foot-4, 220 lbs., played junior hockey for Oshawa of the OHL, where he was named to the OHL First All-Star team in 1999. This Kingston, Ontario native was chosen fourth overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1998 Entry Draft. King, 23, spent the 2004-05 season with the Manitoba Moose, recording 53 points (26-27-53) in 59 games. He split the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons between the Canucks and the Moose. King has played in a total of 55 NHL games, recording NHL career totals of 12 goals, 11 assists (23 points), and eight penalty minutes. Prior to joining the Canucks, King spent three seasons as a member of the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. His final season in Halifax saw him lead the entire Canadian Hockey League in scoring, with 63 goals. King completed the season as the all-time leader in goals for the Mooseheads with 114. This Cornerbrook, Newfoundland-native was selected 212th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2001 Entry Draft.
