Canucks Re-Assign Ryan Shannon

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that forward Ryan Shannon has been re-assigned to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.

Shannon, 24, played three games for Vancouver this season scoring two goals with four penalty minutes. In 2006-07 Shannon split the season between the Anaheim Ducks and Portland Pirates of the AHL. Shannon recorded 11 points (2-9-11) in 53 NHL games and nine points (2-7-9) in 14 games with Portland.

Shannon was acquired by trade with Anaheim in exchange for Jason King on June 23, 2007.

Good. They should also reassign a few more cream puffs like Weaver and Burrows and bring up McIver and Rypien.

I thought Shannon was the one scoring goals on a team having troubles scoring goals.

You know what they should do - drop Ritchie, Isbister, and Weaver, and call up McIver and Rypien. Ritchie's looked awful and uninterested so far, and Isbister is a bum. Canucks obviously need to get more grit/physical, but they need offense too.

Whatever, I'm just waiting for Rypien's call-up now. I'm guessing Vigneault saw enough last night to make him puke.

After getting destroyed on home ice 8-2,wouldnt it make sense to keep one of the only players that is scoring for them?

His only two goals were into open nets on the powerplay after getting set up by the Sedins, anyone on the canucks aside from Trevor Linden could have put those in.

Shannon is a team leading -7

He is a fast kid, but he has a lot to learn before he can play at the NHL level full time. He will do well with the Moose, and most likely be called up some point this season again. I would love to see McIver and Rypien called up though, add some toughness to the team

Pffft. That means ****. Everyone on the Canucks is -7 now, or close to it, after the Flyers game.

That's fuked up. He is small but can really skate and if he could fighish a little better would have 5-6 goals already playing alongside the sedins.

We'll as interesting as it would be to send the Sedins or Naslund to the minors it really wouldn't work out long-term for the canucks with the waiver system the NHL has in place.
