Canucks' Jannik Hansen to Have Disciplinary Hearing

Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen faces a hearing with the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety Wednesday afternoon for an incident in Tuesday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Hansen was assessed a two-minute minor for roughing Marian Hossa at 1:10 of the third period. Hossa left the game and did not return.

Chicago defeated the Canucks, 4-3, in a shootout.

That was a stupid move on his part. He's lucky someone didn't pound his face through the ice.

Was very unexpected and indeed a cheap shot by Jannik Hansen who plays with more of an edge than you'd think.

Blatant elbow right there. Hard to believe he got only 2 minute penalty in-game for that! I think a couple game suspension would be fair.

Why no Hawk held him accountable is almost as bad as the Sabres last year with Lucic.

Last night was another great example of why I would never last more than a week as a head coach in the NHL. After Hansen was done hiding behind the refs from Bollig, I would have sent him back out next time Kesler was on the ice with specific instructions to crosscheck/slash him on the shoulder/wrist that underwent surgery this year.

I'd be fined out of the league really quick but man would it be awesome.

bollig went after him, but im guessing you didnt even watch the game?

i think Hansen was on the ice only like 1-2 times after bollig tried to go after him.

and yeah, i agree with the above, i would've sent someone out to smash one of their best players

If that happened one of the Canucks D-men (probably Edler or Ballard) would go out and re-concuss Toews.

The Canucks are one of the most hated teams in the league for a reason and embrace the hate. Also I'm sure Coach Q knew Hansen was likely to be suspended anyway. This is the third time he's done something like that this season, last time he crosschecked a linesman:

and before that during this lockout he was thrown out of a game for 'violence and behaviour'

So naturally he's one of my favourite Euro's

Whats up with the target on Hossa's back ?

It'll be intresting to see jannik hansen drop the gloves. Little known fact is he can throw em pretty good.

good read. Even Fraser thinks it's 2-minutes enough. Nothing more.

cheap hit.
Also, Bollig did go after him a couple of times.
As far as retribution goes... the game was tight.. So the Hawks weren't ready to throw away the points just to get even.
