Ah, I'll miss Mike Brown. But it's great to have Nathan McIver back...

Well McIver wasn't gone long. Wonder if Brown will play more in Anaheim?

Well, the 'Nucks got McIver back - but this is a great trade for Anaheim. Brown is a much better fighter, and the Ducks already got Sheldon Brookbank to replace McIver. So essentially they lost McIver and got Brookbank and Brown. Wow - great job by their GM! Even though they were already very tough as it was, they just got tougher... they're loaded with Parros, Brookbank, Brown, Moen, Montador, Getzlaf, etc.

Brown is a horrible fighter, a wrestler, one of the gamest guys in the league but just so boring to watch. I won't miss him. McIver was one of my favorites & he's just as game. I wonder if O'Brien will be traded to make room for McIver? Good trade for the Canucks.

I certainly wouldn't say Brown is a much better fighter than McIver. While Brown has looked decent at times (mostly in the minors) overall he's been brutal at this level. McIver certainly isn't the toughest guy but at least he's willing to exchange punches. That being said, I do think both teams win in this trade. Brown and what he can bring to the table is probably more valuable to the Ducks than McIver was. And on the flip slide, Brown wasn't playing for the Canucks and they add a player to their roster they didn't want to lose to begin with.

Send O'B to the Islanders!

That's just the way it's going to go." |

Great move by the Ducks. Brown and McIver arent the greatest fighters but mcIver was not working for the Ducks and got Brookbank to replace him. They now trade him and got Brown. He might play a few games in the 4th line as they have too many injures

So they could send him to Manitoba. If Vancouver had claimed him, they would have to waive him to send him down.

This gives me hints that O'Brien might be on his way out...

It won't take long for the Ducks to see what a horrible fighter he is unless he starts to exchange punches instead of wrestling. I won't miss him 1 bit.
Could be that O'Brien is on his way out, but Ohlund is an UFA come July 1st & won't be back. Also, Nycholat is on the IR & was going to be sent down once he gets off the IR. I think McIver has a chance of sticking next season, & hopefully getting a shot again this season. The reason they didn't claim McIver is because they wanted to get rid of Brown. He hasn't been playing, & they had big hopes he'd be good, but he was brutal. This way, they only have to pay 1 contract, not 2.

Good trade.
I didn't mind Brown, but lately he's been a wate of a roster spot. GF and Hordi are right - I mean, I love his willingness to fight with anyone, but he's just not very good at it. I think he's more suited as an energy guy who can drop them occassionly, and we already have a few of those in Vancouver. It will be interesting to see if he can stick with the Ducks. And great to have McIver back in the fold - I am also a fan of his and was sad to see him claimed last fall. He's a good depth guy to have and will be a good replacement for a guy like Davison or O'Brien somewhere down the road, be it sooner rather than later. 7 or 8 years ago, didn't the Canucks trade to the Ducks another Mike Brown?
