Canadiens to Keep Alex Galchenyuk on Roster

As per the Montreal Canadiens facebook page, Marc Bergevin has informed Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher that they will be staying in Montreal this year, No Sarnia for Galchenyuk, and no Hamilton for Gallagher... It is nice to see that Michel Therrien has confidence in the youngsters, something the Habs don't usually do...

They just want to ruin them early

I don't know why everyone seemed to think there was a rush on to decide on Gallagher. Being an AHLer he was not subject to the 5 game rule was he?

At any rate, I like the move. I like that line with Prust on there with them. Good vet to show them the ropes.

No Gallagher has no stipulations, he stays if the team wants him here, Only Gallchenyuk has stipulations, 5 games then they Keep him, or send him back...

Isn't it 9 games before Jr eligible players have until their contracts kick in? Was it shortened because of the lockout?

Yes that is correct. 5 games for the 48 game season.

Nice to see. Galchenyuk has shown a lot of slick moves and puck savvy so far, and Gallagher is a little buzz saw with a nose for the net. And they have Prust with them so he'll end up with some points and fights.

They better get some fighting lessons for when they play Boston.. not a knock against the Habs, but playing on a line with Prust, anything can happen that game..

prusty gives them space with his physical play and is the sherif to make them bigger... gally and galchy are thriving with prust, definitly the most exiting line this season

Good for Gallagher. A kid that was always "too small" to succeed at every level of hockey. He is easily one of the most competitive players I've ever seen play. Sometimes a little too much for his own good. But he has a ton of heart. I'll always root for him. Except when he plays against the Bruins of course.

Based on what I saw from Galchenyuk during the WJC, I'm not surprised he's sticking with the Habs. He's going to be a good one.

It's been quite a while since we've had a talented player like him , has a great skill set and some major wheels.
