Canadiens Cut 18 Players

MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens announced today that sixteen (16) players have been assigned to the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. The Club also returned defenceman PK Subban (Belleville–OHL) and forward Olivier Fortier (Rimouski–QMJHL) to their respective junior team.

Thirty-two (32) players are still at training camp, including three (3) goaltenders, eleven (11) defencemen and eighteen (18) forwards. The Canadiens will play their remaining three preseason games at the Bell Centre on September 30th (Detroit), October 1st (Boston) and October 4th (Minnesota).

The Canadiens’ training camp will move to the Mont Tremblant area on Thursday with practice sessions open to the public at the St-Jovite arena on October 2-3.

Following are the 16 players reporting to the Bulldogs, who will begin their training camp on September 30th, 2008 at Mile One Centre in St-John’s, Newfoundland.

hmm that's it for Ryan Flinn then... And damn, Shawn Belle is never gonna get a crack at the NHL...

With Laraque around, Flinn was most likely ticketed to be the HW in Hamilton anyway.

No shocker about Flinn, although nice to notice Stewart and Henry both still seem to have a shot at the NHL.

Very nice to see Henry and Stewart shot of NHL !!!! I am very glad if both guys go up!!! Nice to see Canadiens pick up more tougness by last year and many of good prospects...

Stewart may make the team and to tell you the truth id be happy to see him take latendresse,s spot on the roster.

I wouldn't mind if they got rid of Kostopoulos or Begin, or maybe both an made room for some youth, like Stewart an Chipchura....
