Byron Bitz Suspended Two Games
NEW YORK – Vancouver Canucks forward Byron Bitz has been suspended for two games for boarding Los Angeles Kings forward Kyle Clifford during Game 1 of the teams’ Western Conference Quarterfinal series in Vancouver on Wednesday, April 11, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 12:12 of the second period. Bitz was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding. Clifford suffered an injury as a result of the hit. |

Not at all. This was a pretty blatant check from behind. Weber merely tossed a guy's visor-protected dome into the glass.

2 games is exactly what i expected for Bitz. i still say offending players should not be able to play for the same amount as the guy they injured. eye for an eye right? this will never happen, but think about it.
as far as Weber not being suspended, two different hits that are not at all similar IMO. one was a blatant hit to the head from behind, the other was a hand shove to the glass which looked worse than it was, and it didn't even look that bad. more comical than bad if you ask me! i fully expected a fine for Weber, but the incident was not suspension worthy.
