Wow, see the signing bonus? 8 million right now, and 5 mill next year or something. Crazy ****. What's preventing a team from say, hey Brad Richards, here is a 100 million dollar signing bonus, and you are signed for 10 years at 500k a year.

That's cap circumvention.

Trust me, us Devils fans are experts.

in what universe is Ehrhoff worth 9mill for not one but two years in the first place?? This is beyond ridiculous. Ehrhoff isn't a bad player, but even if the cap hit averages at about 4 mill, he's not worth more then 4.5 at most.

Unreal contract - as others have noted, Ehrhoff is a good d-man and brings a lot to the table, but the sheer length of this thing is insane! Overall, its a decent cap hit, and of course its heavily front loaded - but still....crazy.

The only thing I like about it is the fact this is Buffalo we're talking about, a traditionally frugal franchise not known for flinging around money like this - kinda cool seeing a different team make these kind of monetary headlines - Pegula has talked the talk in the past, now he's quite literally putting his money where his mouth is.

So, whats Buffalo's blue line look like now? Regehr, Myers, Ehrhoff, Leopold, Sekera, Morrisonn, and Weber? Not bad at all....

I like the signing but hate the contract. 10 years and that kind of money...that's not Buffalo style.
