Buffalo Re-Signs Forward Matt Ellis
Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have re-signed unrestricted free agent forward Matt Ellis to a one-year contract.
Ellis (8/31/1981, 6’, 212 lbs.) spent last season in Buffalo where he set career highs in games played (72), points (13) and assists (10). Ellis, who turns 29 today, now has 33 points (13+20) in 187 career NHL games with Buffalo, Los Angeles and Detroit. A native of Welland, Ont., Ellis joined Buffalo on October 1, 2008 when he was claimed off waivers from Los Angeles. He was originally signed as undrafted free agent by Detroit on May 10, 2002 after playing junior hockey with the St. Michael’s Majors. |
Hard working kid who's responsible on the ice. But his play is rather yawn inducing otherwise.
I hope his signing doesn't result in less ice time for Cody McCormick. |
Contract on his birthday...good for Matt.

He's a good defensive forward but I don't really see where he fit's in...another player that doesn't throw down the gloves :bored:

Dude got nailed in the playoffs last year.

Matty Ellis is a prime example of hard-work and dedication. If he through his body more or even fought a few times. He would have a roster spot on any roster. He just gets overlooked because he's such a simple player.
