Buffalo Acquires Raffi Torres
Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have acquired forward Raffi Torres from Columbus in exchange for Nathan Paetsch and a second-round selection (originally acquired from Vancouver).

Torres (10/8/1981, 6’0”, 216 lbs.) had 31 points (19+12) in 60 games for the Blue Jackets this season, including seven power play goals and three game winners.

A native of Toronto, Ont., Torres has 177 points (98+79) in 418 career games with Columbus, Edmonton and the New York Islanders. He posted career highs in both goals (27) and points (41) with Edmonton in 2005-06. Torres also added 11 points (4+7) and 16 PIM in 22 playoff games, helping the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006.

The 28-year-old Torres was originally a fifth-overall selection by the Islanders in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Not a bad deal at all for Buffalo, Torres is having a decent year and is on his way to scoring 20 goals again for the first time in 4 or 5 years. Plus he can still hit like a truck. Some needed toughness and grit on the wing for the Sabres.

Can skate , score , loves to hit and an outstanding team guy.

It will be nice to see somebody actually throw his body around. 19 goals immediately puts him in the team lead too.

Torres is really a good aquisition for any team. Role player with versatility and experience. I would welcome him on my team. Added toughness on a moderately gay team.

Nice pickup for the Sabres. Torres brings some energy with his physical play and he addssome offense, in addition to some bringing good playoff experience from that run to the finals a few years back.

i think Torres was coveted by many teams, and it's really not hard to see why. I'd take him over Dominic Moore any day of the week! Good trade for Buffalo.
