The threads about McGratts, the Bruins and the implications of Eastern Conf toughness, has nothing to do with the West. Cheers..

Today is judgement day. McGrattan will either be signed or I'm not sure what will happen to him if he's not.

From todays Globe...

All the trimmings
As of 3 p.m today, the Bruins must notify the league of their full roster for the start of the season. Chiarelli noted days ago that he’ll go with a 23-man roster (the limit), which means pruning will be minimal. Look for Schaefer to be assigned to the minors. Technically, one skater will have to dropped, too, but McGrattan is here on a tryout, which really makes Boston’s current 25-man traveling contingent a 24-man roster. However, if McGrattan is signed prior to 3 p.m., then there could be a roster issue. Once a player is officially trimmed from the roster, he is not allowed to work out with the club. Schaefer will remain in Prague and fly home with the team Sunday evening . . . Spotted outside the Coyotes dressing room at the O2: Ulf Samuelsson, riding a stationary bike. The Bruins locker room is right around a corner from the bike location. But, too bad, Cam Neely was nowhere to be found. Might have made for an impromptu UFC beatdown . . . Bruins winger Danny Paille suffered a cut lip in the first period against the White Tigers and needed 15 stitches

Bartkowski B’s final cut
PRAGUE — Rookie defenseman Matt Bartkowski was the final player cut from the Bruins’ roster in advance of the start of the 2010-11 season Saturday. The former Ohio State star got the bad news from GM Peter Chiarelli after this morning’s practice at the O2 Arena.

But Bartkowski has a bright future with the B’s. He’ll hang around for the next four days — not allowed to skate with the team — then fly home and report to Providence (AHL). But it’s a safe bet he’ll be up with the NHL club before long.

“He had a real strong camp,” said Chiarelli. “He brings an element to our defense that we need a little bit of, and we told him that. He plays an up-tempo game and he has a lot of skill. It’s going to help him to go down. He’s very close.”

The Bruins will have two more days of practice before facing the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday and Sunday in the first two games of the season.
Now lets sign McGratts to that contract!

McGrattan should be signed to a two-way contract real soon. Just speculation.

Earlier this afternoon, the Boston Bruins announced (in an official release) that the team has assigned defenseman Matt Bartkowski to the Providence Bruins.

I beleive before that they were over the roster limit, so my guess is McGratton is sticking. Ive heard the Chiarelli was a big supporter of McGratton when they were both in Ottawa, so the big fella has that going for him....
