He is the only guy in the league that can score 30 goals and fight HW's eventually. I would pay him 6 millions too. A unique combination of toughness and skill you don't find anymore. Well done Bruins, I would have even signed him for longer.

Maybe Lootch figured out to ask for 20% more than your worth since Fukin Bettman is asking for 20% rollback. 6 mil is alot but there are not to many players that can do what he can. Hit,fight, score and intimidate. Very happy he stays with the B's. Anyone who says they wouldn't want him on their team is full of sht.

Five seasons ONE 30 goal year and it took 6 empty goals to do it. He's more like a 25 goal 100+ pim a season player.

Plus he sucks in the playoffs.

what would you know about the playoffs being a blue jackets fan?

anyways...overpayment, yes. one of the top players who can score, be physical and is willing to stick up for teammates, yes. would anybody want him on their teams, mostly. smart move by boston, yes. simple equations = boston and lucic win.

Patrick Kane - $6.3 million
Jonathan Toews - $6.3
Sedin bros - $6.1 million
John Tavares - $5.5 million
Henrik Zetterberg - $6.1 million
Erik Karlsson - $6.5 million
Ryan Miller - $6.25 million

Sorry, but all of those guys are not barely worth more than Lucic. The Bruins overpaid him, and better hope the cap doesn't plummet when the lockout ends.
If Lucic is overpaid, that makes Miller RIDiCULOUSLY overpaid! I'd rather have Lucic than almost every player on that list.

Good move by the Bruins to not go crazy long with the contract in case his body wears down from his style or he gets complacent with the big contract.
Good for him for getting the big money deal. He probably knew the Bruins would give him pretty much what he wanted as he is pretty popular there and the organization would be crazy to let him go.

Seriously? He was the Memorial Cup MVP in 2007 and while he may not have been outstanding during the NHL playoffs, scoring 35 playoff points in his short NHL career isn't too shabby. He was also playing with a high ankle sprain throughout the Stanley Cup run which would certainly have an effect on any players performance.

You've already made it clear you don't like the guy. Good for you. But don't let your blind hatred cloud your judgement. Statements like that make you look foolish.

if the NHL is 'turning *****' (which i almost completely agree with) then wouldn't it make even less sense to sign him to this big of a deal? i mean, i get why this site likes him and it's the same reason i like him, but if the league is getting 'more *****', wouldn't that make this contract worse, not better?

again, i get why we like it, but to me, it's a good team over paying a fan favorite by too much, just because he's a fan favorite (obviously he is on this site, but i'm not sure if a non-hockey fightin' B's fan likes this price tag. which i suppose doesn't matter, but whatever) which wouldn't bother me one bit, if it wasn't for this ****ing lock out ruining my enjoyment.

carry on.

*EDIT*

why the fuck can't i say pussy? what the fuck sense does that make?

First off, I don't hate the guy. Second, "blind" hatred implies I hate him for no reason. There's plenty of reasons not to like him.

Plus what did junior hockey have to do with anything? Jarrod Boll was a 20 goal scorer for the Plymouth Whalers. In the NHL he hasn't reached half that total.

All I'm saying is Lucic is a one time 30 goal scorer (with 6 empty net goals) who is over rated, over paid, cheap dirty player who's fight card its 90% middle weights who ate half his size.

What's the big deal?

That averages out to a 45 point season. That sucks for a 6 million dollar player. I'm sorry.
Again, what does jr hockey have to do with the pros? He dominated when he was 3" and 30#s heavier than everyone else.

Allot of guys that have great jr. careers don't have great NHL careers. Its not relevant. Ask Yannic Riendue lol.

As I've said above he is the only guy in the league that has the potential to score 30 goals and fight HW's if he wants to, no other player brings that to the table and has that kind of combination between toughness and skill.

For me that combination and potential is easily worth 6 millions, every team and every fan would love to have such a player, he is worth the money more then Rick Nash or Thomas Vanek for example and more the most of the other guys getting payed 6 millions.
