Bruins Sign Goaltender Matt Dalton

BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed Bemidji State University goaltender Matt Dalton to an entry level contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

This past season, Dalton helped the 16th seed Bemidji State Beavers earn their first Frozen Four berth in school history and became the lowest seeded team to reach a Frozen Four in NCAA tournament history. In 31 games during the regular season, Dalton compiled a 19-11-1 record with a College Hockey America Conference best 2.19 Goals Against Average and a .921 Save Percentage.

The 22-year-old sophomore from Clinton, Ontario spent the 2005-2006 season with the Bozeman IceDogs of the North American Hockey League and the 2006-2007 season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League before joining Bemidji State in for the 2007-2008 campaign.

I suppose he'll back up Regan next year in Providence, or vice versa.

He must be doing something right if he got some no-name school to the frozen four.

Haha, I wouldn't exactly call Bemidji State a no name school. People who follow college hockey know who they are. Hell Sug, they played in the tourney a few years ago in Amherst, You didn't go?

Well, it ought to be in China with a name like that. But I'll take your word for it. I really don't follow college sports much. I waste enough time following pro sports and racing.

Nope. Saint Louis might be willing to ship The Razor back to you though.

Could the B's be thinking about moving Rask in the off-season? Or are they starting to think he may not be their goalie future? They seem to have a few young goalies so no matter what they do they at least have some depth at a vital position. Now all they need is Mannys contract off the books.

Mannys contract runs out as soon as the last game is played this season. Thank god!
