Bruins Sign Adam Morrison To Entry-Level Contract

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed Vancouver Giants goaltender Adam Morrison to an entry-level contract (Western Hockey League). Morrison will remain with the Giants through the end of their regular season and playoffs.

The 21-year-old Morrison has played in 56 WHL games split between the Saskatoon Blades and Vancouver Giants this season and compiled a 35-17-3 overall record with a 2.80 Goals Against Average, .900 Save Percentage and one shutout. The 2011-12 season is his fourth in the WHL and he has recorded a 78-38-10 career record with five shutouts.

He spent the first three-plus years of his WHL career with Saskatoon before being traded to Vancouver on October 4, 2011 for forward Michael Burns.

The 6’3’’, 194-pound native of White Rock, British Columbia was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round (81st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Good for Morrison. He has been stellar this season for the Giants. He's struggled a bit as of late but as a whole he completely changed the season for Vancouver for the better. He's the team MVP this year no matter what happens in the playoffs.

Any predictions for where he fits in with the B's longer term? AHL and backup to Rask when TT leaves/retires? Backup to TT and move Rask? Using him as a trade piece?

It's far too early to tell. We'll have to see how he performs at the pro level. At this point I'd consider him a solid depth signing.
