BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Adam McQuaid from the Providence Bruins on an emergency basis and also recalled Andy Wozniewski on an emergency basis. Both players will join the Bruins for practice on Wednesday at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington at 10:30 a.m. Chiarelli also announced that the team has placed forward Milan Lucic on injured reserve.
The 23-year-old McQuaid has played in 29 games this season for Providence and has registered 3-7=10 totals and 66 penalty minutes. Last year with the P-Bruins, McQuaid had 4-11=15 totals and 141 penalty minutes in 78 games. He was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (55th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. McQuaid was traded to Boston from Columbus for a 2007 fifth round draft pick (Jamie Benn) on May 16, 2007. The 29-year-old Wozniewski has skated in 29 games for the P-Bruins and recorded 6-17=23 totals. He was signed by Boston as a free agent on September 9, 2009 after splitting last year between the AHL affiliates of the Penguins and Blues. The Buffalo Grove, Illinois native has tallied 2-10=12 totals and 81 penalty minutes in 77 career NHL games with the Blues and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was signed to his first pro contract with Toronto on May 27, 2004 and was a member of the Leafs organization until he signed as a free agent by the Blues on July 17, 2008. He was traded to Pittsburgh on March 4, 2009 before signing with the B’s as a free agent on September 9, 2009. |

Congrats to McQuaid. He's another guy in the Mark Stuart mold.

McQuaid cant be worse than Andrew Ference.

One game and your after the guy? I didn't even think he looked that bad, just very average, pretty much what Ference looks like every game. Yes I would like to see McQuaid in there tomorrow instead of him but Wozniewski didn't look bad.

He made some bad plays tonight. The 2nd or 3rd Chicago goal was a direct result of Woz not making his mind up whether he should step up or try to block the shot, leading to the guy getting a shot off right in front of the net, untouched. He also made a couple other blunders in his own zone. He's the 2nd biggest guy on the team, trailing only Chara, but he doesn't use his body at all. That alone is reason to dislike the guy. A huge waste of 6 1/2 feet and 225 pounds.
