Bruins Recall Jamie Tardif
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, February 1, that the Bruins have recalled forward Jamie Tardif from Providence on an emergency basis (American Hockey League). Tardif will join the Bruins for practice on Friday, February 1 at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington and travel with the team to Toronto for their game on Saturday, February 2 against the Maple Leafs.
Tardif currently leads the Providence Bruins in scoring this season with 21 goals and nine assists in 39 games. His 21 goals currently ranks second overall in the AHL and he was also selected to participate in the AHL All-Star weekend held on January 28-29, 2013. The 28-year-old has played in 415 career games in the AHL with 114 goals, 100 assists for 214 points. He has not made an NHL appearance to date. The 6'0", 205-pound native of Welland, Ontario was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed by the Bruins as an unrestricted free agent on July 5, 2011. |

Looks like Thornton could be missing some time

If they were to recall anyone to fill Thorts' spot on the 4th line, Tardif was definitely the best option. Good for him; he's more than earned the opportunity.
I can't believe he's never played in an NHL game yet. Oh wait, he spent 5 seasons in the Wings organization, yes I can.

I like teams like Toronto and Boston.
Thornton goes down, call up Tardiff and play MacDermid. Brown goes down, claim McLaren off waivers. And the two teams meet up tomorrow night.

If I was Jamie Tardif, I'd be saying "It's about F***ing time!"
I hope he hits everything that moves and chips in a goal.

He'll always play the body instead of the puck. He used to fight a bunch more when he was in the Wings organization since they had no one else, but doesn't fight as much nowadays, although I'm sure he'd drop them in a heartbeat if challenged now that he's in The Show and looking to get noticed for future callups.

He should have been called up when he was with the Griffins but the Wings never gave him a shot, no matter how many goals he scored. My favourite AHL (now NHL) player by far.
In terms of work ethic, grit and leadership you couldn't ask for more. Not a bad fighter either and has a great uppercut. Scores a hell of a lot of goals from in front of the net.
