Before joining Boston, Hunwick appeared in nine games for Providence this season, recording four assists and a plus/minus rating of +7.

During his collegiate career, the 22-year-old Warren, MI native played in 163 games for the University of Michigan from 2003-2007, notching 24 goals and 73 assists in his four seasons. Selected in the seventh round (224th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Hunwick competed with Team USA at two different World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005 and was a teammate of current Bruins Mark Stuart (2004) and Phil Kessel (2005) on those teams.
