Bruins Place Savard on LTIR; Recall Trent Whitfield
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has placed forward Marc Savard on long term injured reserve (broken left foot) and has recalled forward Trent Whitfield from Providence on an emergency basis.
Savard is expected to miss four to six weeks with the injury. He has led the Bruins in scoring each of the last three years and currently leads the team in scoring this year, with 4-3=7 totals in seven games. In 2008-09, Savard played in all 82 games with a 25-63=88 line. The 32-year-old Whitfield was signed by Boston as a free agent on July 13, 2009. He has skated in six games for Providence this season and has registered 3-5=8 totals. In his career, Whitfield has appeared in 177 NHL games with the Capitals, Rangers and Blues and tallied 11 goals and 17 assists. |
Man, Boston is banged up. Lucic is on the IR, as well. That's 2 of their top 6 that are out. Not to mention they already lost Kessel, and traded Kobasew.

I hear Tom Petty.

Boston is having the same kind of luck as Vancouver and Minnesota. Tough start to the season.
|
The Bruins are sure having some injury struggles right now. Losing Lucic and now Savard combines as a huge hit to their offense. They really need someone to step up big time in their absence or things could be rough.

This sucks! :bomb:
