Bruins Acquire Forward Petr Tenkrat

The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Petr Tenkrat from the Toronto Maple Leafs and have signed him to a one-year contract, it was announced today by Bruins Interim General Manager Jeff Gorton. Tenkrat was a restricted free agent and the Bruins sent their seventh round draft pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft to Toronto for his free agent rights.

"Petr is a very good skater and is versatile in that he can play either wing," said Gorton. "We feel that his talents fit in very well with the way the NHL game is played today."

Tenkrat, 29, was drafted by Anaheim in the eighth round, 230th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft after playing four seasons with Kladno in the Czech Elite League. After spending the 1999-2000 season in Finland with HPK Hameenlinna and Ilves Tampere, he came to North America and joined the Mighty Ducks organization. He split his first one-plus seasons between Anaheim and their AHL affiliate in Cincinnati before a November 1, 2001 trade to Nashville for Patric Kjellberg and he finished the 2001-02 season in the Predators organization between Nashville and their AHL affiliate in Milwaukee.

The 6'0", 183 lb. native of Kladno, Czech Republic then returned to Europe, where he has played the last four seasons with Voskresensk Khimik in Russia and Karpat in Finland. His NHL rights were claimed by Florida from Nashville in the 2002 NHL Waiver Draft, were traded to Columbus for Mathieu Biron on October 4, 2002 and were then claimed by Toronto in the 2003 NHL Waiver Draft.

Tenkrat played the 2005-06 season with Karpat in Finland with 10-21=31 totals and 22 penalty minutes in 36 games. He added 6-3=9 totals with 18 penalty minutes in 11 playoff games for Karpat. He has scored 20-or-more goals on three occasions in Europe, including a career-best 35-14=49 totals in the 1999-2000 season with HPK Hameenlinna and Ilves Tampere in Finland.

His NHL career totals to date are 13 goals and 25 assists for 38 points with 50 penalty minutes in 113 games with Anaheim and Nashville. His best NHL season came with the Predators with 8-14=24 totals in 67 combined Anaheim and Nashville games during the 2001-02 season.

I really can't say much but the Bruins seem to like the Maple Leafs left-overs.

This must be the new enforcer that the RUINS fans have been waiting for. The plan is to make the other teams in the league feel bad for them so they won't bully them as much. IT ISN"T WORKING HARRY!

You can't stop Petr Tenkrat, you can only hope to contain him. This is a great move by the B's front office. Why waste a draft pick on a young, talented player when you can turn around and trade it for a guy THAT HASN'T PLAYED IN THE NHL FOR 4 FREAKIN' YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111

More proof that the Bruins have no interest in playing with a full roster that is NHL-calibre.

What the Ruins should do!

1) Fire Harry Sinden. Harry hasn't won a
thing and never will. He is not commited
enough and doesn't work hard enough at
it to be a Champion. This is about winning,
not friendship!
2) Hire Pat Quinn as coach. Quinn is a proven
winner, likes "tough" hockey and would fit
in well with the Ruins fans (ala Pat Burns)
3) Sign Brian McGrattan and Zdeno Chara as
UFA. MCG would be an instant cult hero.
Chara would give the Ruins something
they haven't had since Bourque left, a
ROCK. Going along with Brad Stuart, they
would be set a long time on the backline!
4) Sign Patrick Elias as a free agent. He has
proven to be a top notch player and an
excellent investment, no matter what
the "style" of play the NEW NHL uses.
5) Trade their number#1 pick (fifth overall)
and Andrew Raycroft for a top notch,
second line center and either a second line
LW or second line RW. Both of these guys
should be "young" proven, veterans, no
older than 25 or 26.
6) Round out the roster with a "high energy",
stir it up grinder, a "Steve Ott" type for
the third line.

Add a spoonful of sugar and your done. A Stanley Cup Playoff contender.

NOTICE: No where in my plan was TinkerNat's name mentioned. KEEP WASTING TIME AND MONEY HARRY!

NOW IF ONLY THEY COULD GET NEW OWNERS!

Great move for the B's!
Just what they need another softie skating the wing. Oh well, he can't be any worse than Lacouture.
