Bruins Acquire Daniel Paille
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has acquired forward Daniel Paille from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Boston’s natural third round pick in 2010 and a conditional fourth round pick in 2010.
Paille has appeared in 195 career games in the NHL - all with Buffalo - and has amassed 35-42=77 totals and 54 penalty minutes. Originally drafted by the Sabres in the first round (20th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Paille enjoyed his best season statistically in 2007-08 when he set career highs in games played, goals, assists and points after tallying 19 goals, 16 assists for 35 points in 77 games. Last year, the 6’0, 197-pound forward registered 12-15=27 totals. He has skated in two games this year and recorded one assist for Buffalo. |

With Mair back and Sekera coming back soon, I think the Sabres would have had to either send Myers back to Jr. or send someone through waivers. They have what they consider a glut at forward, so Paille was expendable.
The B's traded Kobasew, and Lucic is on LTIR. Not a bad deal for either club.

Paille is a decent depth player that didn't seem to fit into Ruff's lines this year. He's tough but not a fighter. He has skill but didn't light the lamp much last year. As a former first round pick he's a bit of a bust but he's not a liability on the ice.
He'll be appreciated in Boston for his work ethic but he certainly won't fill Lucic's skates while he is out. |
