Volchenkov, turned his back after dumping the puck. The last i had heard from Shanahan if you put yourself in harms way it will happen. Should not have been a suspension, Looks like he was trying to draw a penalty

I really don't like the suspension.

As far as I can see, Prust was going for the hit, Volchenkov turns away from it and forces Prust to get his hands up to protect himself from going face first into the glass. Considering Prust's left arm/elbow goes through nearly the exact same motion as the right, I don't think there's the intent most elbows to the head have.

And whats the point of Shanahans video explaining the suspension. What a joke. Make the call and be done with it. The video explanation is ridiculous. Does Shanahan really like to hear himself talk that much or is the NHL trying to justify the suspension in public. What a bunch of clowns.

With the way the NHL is handing out suspensions this didn't surprise me at all. As soon as it happened I turned to my brother and said he's gonna get a game for that. I don't think Prust was intending to hit the head with the elbow but at the end of the day he did and thats EXACTLY what the NHL is cracking down on.

Putting blame on Volchenkov for the hit is flat out ridiculous. Volchenkov hit the brakes trying to avoid the hit which happens all the time in a hockey game. Prust didn't look like he targeted the head and doesn't have a history of being dirty but that doesn't change the fact that his elbow made solid contact to the back of an opposing players head which the NHL won't tolerate.

Im amazed that people are still complaining about stuff like this. This is the new NHL. It is what it is.

If Prust didn;'t want to hit him with his elbow he wouldn't have. He hit Volchenkov's head because he wanted to. Prust deserves the game suspension.

Hopefully Bickel can play a decent 4th line winger. Most likley won't be penilty killing though, but I'm sure he can block shots.
